Bob LaCivita
Robert LaCivita was born in 1955 in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He has been interested in woodworking and building since his mid teens and focused his attention in that direction in high school.
Robert worked as an intern for two years at Leeds Design Workshops under David Powell learning the foundation skills of furniture making and woodworking. He then went on to the Rhode Island School of Design and majored in Industrial Design and earned a BFA in 1982. Fresh out of school, Robert started a furnituremaking business and taught part time at Leeds Design Workshops. Bob had little success in the design/build furniture market. However, he discovered architectural woodworking and began working as a cabinetmaker and then draftsman and project manager for a small shop in Manchester, NH.
Robert has worked for a number of large architectural woodworking firms in many different capacities including cabinetmaker, draftsman, installer, estimator, project manager and general manager. The projects ranged from small to very large. Most projects were in major US cities and many overseas.
Robert has owned and operated Robert J LaCivita for over ten years, designing and building woodworking and houses for his clients on the New Hampshire seacoast. Robert is on the steering committee for The Guild of New Hampshire Woodworkers. He also teaches part time at Homestead Woodworking School in Newmarket, NH.
Robert lives with his wife Patricia, two dogs a horse and has three grown children.
